Rest, reset recovery
One of my favorite things about this time of year is the quiet space that opens between Christmas and New Year’s.
The gifts have been opened.
The gatherings are winding down.
The adrenaline fades.
And if we let it, this in-between space can become holy ground.
Not a place for pressure.
Not a place for resolutions.
But a place for listening.
The Wisdom of Big Rocks First
One of the most freeing lessons I’ve learned—both personally and through coaching—is this:
The life you want isn’t built by doing more.
It’s built by choosing what goes in first.
When we don’t intentionally place the big rocks in our lives, everything else fills the space.
For me, the big rocks are simple but sacred:
Rest
Nourishment
Joy
Friendship
Time with God
Meaningful work that aligns with who I’m becoming
These aren’t the “extras.”
They are the foundation.
When we protect these first, the smaller tasks find their place.
When we skip them, everything feels heavy—even the good things.
Rest Is Not a Pause From Purpose
Many women struggle to rest because they believe it delays progress.
But Scripture and lived experience tell a different story.
Rest isn’t disengagement.
It’s restoration.
It’s where clarity returns.
It’s where desire softens back into calling.
It’s where we remember who we are apart from what we produce.
Recovery—physical, emotional, spiritual—is not wasted time.
It’s preparation.
Listening for What’s Next
As we stand on the edge of a new year, I want to invite you into a different kind of question.
Not:
“What should I do next year?”
But:
“God, what are You inviting me into?”
That question doesn’t demand a five-year plan.
It doesn’t require clarity on every detail.
Sometimes the answer comes as a word.
A nudge.
A longing you can’t quite shake.
And sometimes it comes quietly:
“Stay.”
“Release.”
“Begin.”
“Trust.”
Small Steps Still Matter
One of the most common traps women fall into is believing that if they can’t do something fully, it’s not worth starting at all.
But sustainable transformation rarely comes from big, dramatic leaps.
It comes from small, faithful steps.
What if instead of asking yourself to overhaul your life, you asked:
What’s one step I could take each month?
What’s one habit that supports who I’m becoming?
What’s one passion I could tend gently instead of forcing?
Twelve small steps—taken consistently—change everything.
Honoring Your Humanity While You Bless Others
Many women are generous by nature.
They show up.
They give.
They serve.
But generosity without boundaries becomes depletion.
Honoring your humanity doesn’t make you less loving.
It makes your love sustainable.
As you move toward a new year, may you remember:
You are allowed to be a blessing and a person who needs care.
You are allowed to pour out and be filled.
You are allowed to serve God without sacrificing yourself.
A Gentle Invitation
If you’re longing to enter 2026 with intention, clarity, and grace—without the pressure of hustle—I’d love to invite you to a live workshop I’m hosting:
✨ Design Your Year
A goal workshop for women who want 2026 to feel different
📅 Monday, December 29 | 7pm CST
We’ll create space to listen, reflect, and design a year that honors who you are and who you’re becoming—one small, faithful step at a time.
And if all you take from this week is rest, that’s enough too.
